About HKUST(GZ)
Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. At steady state, the HKUST(GZ) community will consist of 800 faculty members, 4000 undergraduates and 6000 postgraduates.
About Artificial Intelligence (AI) Thrust
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Thrust, an academic department under Information Hub, HKUST(GZ), now invites applications for tenure-track and teaching-track faculty positions at all ranks (Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer I / Lecturer II).
AI Thrust rides on the strong research background at HKUST and is committed to basic and applied research in artificial intelligence. We aim to nurture high-level research and application talents with strong professional skills, interdisciplinary capabilities and international perspectives. Our team of highly qualified faculty members actively promotes interdisciplinary research, and strives to build an AI research ecosystem that is Greater Bay Area based, internationally oriented, and HKUST branded. Appointment to Professor rank and some Associate Professor rank will be made on substantive basis with tenure while initial appointment to other tenure-track faculty ranks will be made on a 6-year contract basis with a mid-term review. Appointment to teaching-track faculty will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to 3 years renewable for another 3 years subject to performance and mutual agreement.

Qualification of Candidates
A Ph.D. degree in a field related to the Artificial Intelligence Thrust
For Tenure-Track Faculty Position:
Applicants for tenure-track Assistant Professor should demonstrate strong research and teaching potentials.
Applicants for Associate Professor should have a proven record in research, teaching, student supervision, and funding.
Applicants for Professor should have world-class academic achievements, international academic leadership, and an established track record in teaching, student supervision and funding.
For Teaching-Track Faculty Position:
Demonstrated capability for effective teaching at the university level, with a clear passion for education and mentorship.
Commitment to curriculum development, course innovation, and educational excellence.
Ability to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Example courses may include Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics for AI, Data Mining, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and related topics.
Experience in higher education teaching is preferred, particularly for applicants to senior ranks.
